Hello! I'm sure you've all been wondering what is new with me because, let's face it, I'm an interesting character. A lot has changed since my last post! My pawrents sold our house and moved about 30 minutes away. As one could expect, I wasn't a fan of the change originally, but in my new house I have a better yard to frolic around in and new neighbors to wag my tail/bark at as though I'm being murdered. It's pretty fun! I also get to see my other family members a lot more frequently, so the change is pretty great. Also, at my last house we had realllllllllly tall stairs and this house is a little easier for my old-guy-bones to maneuver.
Those twin babies I talked about last year are now almost 2 years old! Yeah. Two years. They scream a lot less these days, which is quite nice on my ears. That first year I just tried to cover my ears with my paws and imagine myself in an open field running free. It was quite the challenge, but we made it through and now they're a little more fun. Note the word "little." They still do unexpected things that work me up, but it's getting better every day. I have a secure place with my family and a secure place in my mom's heart.
For a while there, me and mom were having a hard time. She felt like I figured out how to do the most inconvenient thing possible at the most inconvenient time possible. To this, I have to say... well... you're right. SOMETIMES I WANT ATTENTION! It's been a hard transition not being the center of my mom's world anymore, but after two years we're starting to find our rhythm. Now, it's not just me that does wacky things. My Labradoodle brother, Cohen, and I take turns doing alarming things. It's nice to share that responsibility as we age.
Another cool change is that my mom is home all the time. Like, all the time. She used to leave the house for like 8 hours a day! From what I hear, there was some sort of pandemic, which changed the way she does her job. Now, she talks to a computer screen for work. Seems weird to me, but it puts food in my bowl, so who am I to judge. She calls it "telehealth" and says she "sees clients from her home office." Okay, sure. What I love, though, is that I get to be with her while she's doing "telehealth"!!!!!! I lay on the couch and hang out while she "works." It's fantastic. Granted, sometimes she seems a little embarrassed if I start barking to warn her there may be an intruder on the other side of the door (which may or may not be one of my family members 100% of the time).
From what she tells me, her business has changed a little bit in the last few weeks also. She's focusing on clients struggling with something called "infertility." Apparently she went through 7 years of infertility before my human brothers were born. Personally, I didn't notice because …. you know... I got a lot of attention during those years... so I didn't see how it was a problem. Apparently it was, though, and she's looking forward to helping other people with similar struggles.
If you know anyone struggling with infertility and needing someone to talk to, you can visit her website www.arthealscounseling.org and set up an appointment today! Let your friends/family know!
Sorry for my long absence- I hope to write more regularly about my antics and managing my anxiety.
