Ya know, humans are kinda funny to me. They seem super obsessed with how their outer bodies look, what other people think about them, and how they stack up against others. Can you imagine if my dog brain worked that way? If I determined my value based on my recent haircut or how many bones/ toys I have? That’s ridiculous. My outer body gets me from one point to another. My fur isn’t for me or others to judge. It’s for people to pet! Yes, sometimes I’m super fuzzy and my mom giggles about how cute I am, but she also says how cute I am when my hair is short! My body has a purpose and every day I’m thankful my organs work so I can process yummy treats. I’m thankful my muscles work so I can run in my yard and jump on my comfy couch. I’m thankful for my paws because they help me hold my bones to chew. I'm thankful for my eyes because they help me see people I love. I'm thankful for my ears because I can hear my mom call my name when it's time to come inside. I'm thankful for my nose because it helps me track down intruding squirrels in my back yard. I'm thankful for my tail because it seems to make humans smile because it doesn't wag back and forth, it goes in a circle like a helicopter.

Comparing my body, bones, fur, and color to other dogs does absolutely no good. Instead, I focus on my body's purpose and express gratitude for each working piece.

What did your body help you do today? Have you expressed gratitude for each working piece?

Unbearable Grief.

I'm writing to you today as Dunkin's mom, Mindy. Yesterday my best friend old dog got extremely sick and went over the rainbow bridge....
