Some days are tough. Some days I'm cruisin' along doing great, then BAM, something unexpected happens out of my routine and I'm thrown for a loop! I start to feel my heart race, my tongue gets a little panty, and it's hard to catch my breath. Mom usually notices and give me a pat or kiss on the head and tells me everything is going to be all right. Even though my body is trying to trick me... and things don't feel alright... I trust mom. Miraculously things do get better, my heart doesn't feel as racey, and my mind starts to calm down. Mom tells me this is a skill called "riding the wave." She says what comes up has to come down. It's possible to experience emotions as they come and breathe through them rather than fighting to change them.
